Open Heaven 5 January 2023 Thursday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Learn From The Word Of God

Open Heaven 5 January 2023 TOPIC: Learn From The Word Of God

MEMORISE: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

READ: Psalm 25:4-5(KJV)

4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 18-20

Open Heaven 5 January 2023 MESSAGE:

Our memory verse for today says that the workman that will not be ashamed is he or she who rightly divides the word of truth – not just one who reads it, but one who divides it and learns from it. Many people read their Bibles but do not really learn from it. It has become something done just to fulfil all righteousness. There are many great treasures of knowledge in the Bible that will benefit anyone willing to search them out. When you study the Bible, you should be on the lookout for new things you can learn and apply in your marriage, business, career, ministry or any other aspect of life. Proverbs 18:15 says:

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

The Bible is not a story book; it is a life manual, and lessons from it must be applied in our lives. Romans 15:4 says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that the Scripture is given to us so that we can be perfect and thoroughly furnished unto ALL, not some, but ALL good works:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Living according to the standards of God as shown in the Bible may appear difficult, it is however, better that you discipline yourself to do so because the results would be great in your life. For example, the word of God says you must be humble, so be humble. As a result of your humility, God will give you grace to succeed (James 4:6). His word says you should be diligent, so be diligent and as a result, you will stand before kings (Proverbs 22:29).

Believe me honestly, I have found that God’s word is the key to true success in life. Be dedicated to studying it and applying your learnings correctly from today.

Open Heaven 5 January 2023 PRAYER POINT:

Pray according to Psalm 25:4: Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

Nigerians paid more on transportation in March - NBS

Nigerians paid more on transportation in March - NBS

Insurance consumers have rejected the new insurance policy which raised premium on third party motor, TPM, policy, describing it as self-serving and anti-consumer.

In a letter to the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, the Insurance Consumers Association of Nigeria, INSCAN, said the increase was hurriedly ordered without consideration of the economic situation of most Nigerians at the moment.

The letter titled, “Demand for Reversal of Your Policy Directive on the Increase of Third Party Motor Insurance Premium in Nigeria by 200% under One (1) Week Notice to the Nigeria Insurance Consumers” and signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Yemi Soladoye, INSCAN demanded that NAICOM reverse the increase pending proper consideration of the grey areas of the directive.

INSCAN said: “Your policy directive on TPM premium increase was not subjected to civilized trade practices, professionally-accepted insurance principles, transparent customer- oriented regulations and humane attention to the economic situation of most Nigerians at the moment before you hurriedly passed same.

“The Nigeria insurance consumers are further convinced that the motive behind your directive is self-serving, arrogant and detrimental to their interest which you are established to protect and therefore demand that you reverse same pending proper consideration of the grey areas of the directive.”

The letter added, “Our demand for the reversal of the directive is based on the following facts: – You failed to understand the full implications of your directive that the real organ you will punish is the Nigerian insurance consumers who provide the income that accrue to the entire insurance industry. Though, you threatened to sanction your insurance operators that may fail to comply with your directive come 1st January 2023, yet, the truth of the matter is that your operators and yourself will be the beneficiaries of the windfall that will accrue from the directive while the insurance consumers, are in the real sense of it, the ones being sanctioned. The almost 20 million motor insurance consumers in Nigeria deserve more than one (1) week notice from you.

“To rely on the overbeaten lateral- thinking comparison of what they pay as premium in other parts of the world, as your basis to increase the premium burden on Nigerians will be tantamount to daylight robbery on the Nigerian insurance consumers by an Agency established to protect them without a corresponding comparison of the non-pecuniary benefits that accrue to the policyholders and the public at large in such insurance climes”.

Presidency to Obasanjo: Your tenure represented dark days of democracy

.OBASANJO, buhari

*Maintains ex-President’s record no match for Buhari’s achievements

The Presidency yesterday attacked former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the latter’s New Year open letter where he openly endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, for the February 25 election.

Obasanjo had in the letter, told Nigerian youths that the forthcoming election was their turn to take their destiny in their hands by voting for Mr Obi, and made scathing remarks against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reacting to the former President’s statement that Nigerians were living in hell under Buhari’s government, the Presidency described Chief Obasanjo as a frustrated person, who is morally dirty to criticise the present administration.

The Presidency, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said:  “As we said sometimes back, Mr. Obasanjo’s tenure between 1999-2007, represented the dark days of Nigeria’s democracy, due to a slew of assaults on the constitution.”

of Nigeria’s democracy, due to a slew of assaults on the constitution.”

Garba Shehu tackles Obasanjo over statement against Buhari

Obasanjo’s ‘disappointment’, Atiku’s planned ‘insurrection’ and Buhari administration

‘You’re part of the problem,’ Bolaji Akinyemi knocks Obasanjo over Peter Obi’s endorsement

It premised its reaction on four grounds, saying “former President Obasanjo is so well-known to all that no one needs to describe who he is.

It continued:  “One is that he will not stop attacking President Muhammadu Buhari because the former President won’t stop being jealous of anyone who beats him to a new record in the nation’s development process.

“President Buhari is ahead of Chief Obasanjo in all fields of national development and to do that is a cardinal sin to Obasanjo, whose hallucinations tell him that he is the best ever to lead Nigeria and there will never be another one better than him.

“President Buhari just completed the world-class edifice that is the Second Niger Bridge after three decades of failed promises. It is now awaiting commissioning.

Obasanjo laid the sod for the bridge in his first term as elected President and work never started.

“When he sought re-election for his second term in office, he returned to the site to turn the sod for the bridge the second time.

”When the Obi of Onitsha, forthright and scholarly, reminded him that he had done this in the past, Obasanjo told the foremost Southeast traditional ruler that he was a liar, in the full presence of the Chiefs and Oracles in his palace.

“Obasanjo lied to the Southeast to get their votes. President Buhari didn’t get their votes but built the bridge because he believed it is the right thing to do.”

The Presidency also said Obasanjo was frustrated because of the global recognition and accolades President Buhari is getting especially, his insistence that the nation’s his insistence that the nation’s constitution should be respected as regards tenure of government.

“Two, President Buhari had been bagging awards and encomiums for trying to do that which the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria says a leader should do: serve one, or a maximum of two terms and go.

“President Buhari has been stating and restating that he will supervise a better election than the one that brought him to the office and to leave as and when due.

“Having tried tenure elongation and failed, Obasanjo’s fictitious mind must be telling him that he is the one under attack.

”But he is not on President Buhari’s radar because experience has shown, especially lately in West Africa where there have been at least three successful coups and many other failed attempts, that third term or tenure elongation is a recipe for political instability.

“Furthermore, the totality of African leaders appointed President Buhari the Anti-Corruption Champion of the continent.

“You can’t be an anti-corruption champion if ‘you meddled and bent the rules,” carrying the putrid responsibility of what happened to national assets in the name of privatization as documented by the Nigerian Senate in 2011.

”As an insight, the Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria, ALSCON, which was set up with $3.2 billion, was sold to a Russian firm, Russal, for a paltry $ 130 million. Delta Steel, which was set up in 2005, at a cost of $ 1.5 billion, was sold to Global Infrastructure for just $ 30 million.

“ALSCON got back $ 120 million for the dredging of the Imo River, which was never carried out.

“Moreover, he damned the Supreme Court and unlawfully held back Lagos State revenues due from federal sources on account of his pettiness against the then Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“On the other hand, in Washington a few weeks ago, US President Joe Biden at a meeting with African Heads of State and Government described President Buhari as a champion of democracy and a role model for the leaders of African states.

“Clearly, Obasanjo has become even more jealous by adopting a vengeful attitude.”

The Presidency further said, “Four, to say that “frying pan to fire” is the situation in Nigeria at this time should be read to mean a personal experience to him and we know what that means.

“Hell” for Obasanjo is when a President, any President that comes after him refuses to be his puppet, to do as he wishes on all matters and at all times. He then keeps attacking out of frustration.

“Obasanjo’s vengeful attitude towards President Buhari is the height of selfishness and little short of moral squalor.”
